Konchesky questions red cards

Paul Konchesky felt Fulham were given a raw deal by the match officials during their 2-1 defeat to Roma.

The Cottagers came unstuck in the Italian capital on Thursday during the latest round of Europa League fixtures.

Roy Hodgson's side had led 1-0 at the interval, but saw their efforts start to unravel once Erik Nevland was dismissed early in the second half.

Konchesky also saw red late on for a foul on Rodrigo Taddei, but the combative full-back insists both decisions were harsh on Fulham.

"In the English Premier League those are not sending offs," he said.

"It completely changed the game, there's no doubt about that.

"It was a shame because we played a great first half and we deserved much more from this match.

"We dominated in the opening half and we showed we were better than Roma."

Complicated
The defeat sees Fulham slip to third in Group E, two points behind Roma with two games remaining.

They are set to face CSKA Sofia on 3rd December in their penultimate fixture and will round off the group stage with a meeting against table-topping Basle in Switzerland two weeks later.

Konchesky admits the Cottagers face an uphill struggle as they look to prolong their European adventure, but he remains confident that progress can be secured.

"We still have two games left and we have to hope that Roma slip," he added.

"But it's going to be difficult as we now depend on the result of others.

"Obviously the team will have to overcome suspensions and that is an added complication."
