Giggs to stay at Old Trafford until 2011

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has signed a new one-year contract to stay at Old Trafford until 2011.

Giggs' previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season, but he has been enjoying a renaissance in recent campaigns.

He was named the PFA Player of the Year last term and has again impressed this season to be rewarded with a new deal.

Sir Alex Ferguson revealed earlier this month that the 36-year-old was in line for an extension and the paperwork has now been signed.

The Welshman is the club's all-time leading appearance maker and surpassed Sir Bobby Charlton's long-standing record in the 2008 UEFA Champions League.

The midfielder is also the most decorated player in the club's history, having won 11 Premier League titles, two UEFA Champions League crowns and numerous cup medals.

Delighted
Giggs, who has featured in over 820 games for United and could now spend 20 years in the first team, is more than happy to be staying at the club.

"I am delighted that I have agreed one more year," Giggs told the club's official website.

"I am enjoying my football more than ever and I am looking forward to hopefully winning more trophies with Manchester United."

United boss Ferguson added: "Ryan deserves a new contract and I am sure that he will play for another two years.

"His form is fantastic at the moment and he is playing some of his best football."
