Pearson - Finances are tight

Hull City chairman Adam Pearson has confirmed that the Premier League club need to move players on before they are able to bring in any new signings.

The Tigers are currently one point and one place above the survival mark, with boss Phil Brown hampered in his attempts to bolster his squad for the tough months ahead.

Pearson told the Hull Daily Mail: "As I have already said, there will be no new signings coming into the club unless we can cut our wage bill significantly.

"For that reason, at the moment we are not looking at any potential signings in January, and I want to make that clear.

"We have no firm interest in any of our players at the moment.

"It is very, very difficult to move players out because we are in the bottom six of the Premier League and there aren't many clubs in the Championship with funds available.

"We have to be patient. It will not be a fire-sale, it will be done in a considered manner and in the best interests of the club."
