The decisive goal arrived on 62 minutes when former Middlesbrough striker Massimo Maccarone's cross was turned home from close range by Paolucci.

Parma remain in fourth position in the standings after an exciting 2-2 draw away to fellow Champions League hopefuls Genoa.

The hosts took a 14th minute lead through Rodrigo Palacio, only for Jonathan Biabiany to equalise for Parma on 36 minutes.

Fabio Quagliarella scored an 88th minute winner as Napoli twice came from behind to prevail 3-2 at home to Bari.

Barreto put Bari ahead on 49 minutes before Quagliarella headed home Walter Gargano's cross just five minutes later.

Bari were back in front on 58 minutes through Andrea Ranocchia's close-range header, but the visitors then had Alessandro Parisi sent off for a second yellow card.

Quagliarella set up Christian Maggio to head home an equaliser on 72 minutes before Ezequiel Lavezzi played in Quagliarella to score two minutes from time.

Evergreen striker Marco Di Vaio converted a second-half penalty to secure a 2-1 home win for Bologna over Udinese.

Adailton's free-kick gave Bologna a 27th minute lead, but Udinese were level by the break after Antonio Di Natale scored in stoppage-time.

Di Vaio struck the winner on 65 minutes when he fired home from the spot after he had been felled in the box by Maurizio Domizzi.

Struggling Livorno slipped to a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Chievo Verona, who took a 12th minute lead through Luca Rigoni's header.

Livorno saw Cristiano Lucarelli sent off on 25 minutes and Simone Bentivoglio settled Chievo's nerves with a second goal on 66 minutes.

Palermo overturned a half-time deficit to record a 2-1 home victory over Cagliari, who went in front on 24 minutes through Alessandro Matri.

Igor Budan levelled the game up 10 minutes into the second half and highly-rated defender Simon Kjaer headed home Antonio Nocerino's corner for the winner on 65 minutes.
