Serie A round-up

It was a night of draws in Serie A. Bologna let slip a two goal lead to draw 2-2 with Atalanta. The result leaves it just one place above the drop zone.Bologna is in 17th place with 20 points, three more than Atalanta in 18th.

Marco Di Vaio scored both Bologna's goals, the first with a free kick in the 17th and he added a second in the 34th. Thomas Manfredini pulled a goal back for Atalanta before halftime and after the break Ernesto Chevanton scored to give Atalanta a share of the points.

It was Bologne who broke the deadlock in the 19th minute. Di Vaio drilled a long-range free-kick into the bottom corner to beat Atalanta goalkeeper Ferdinando Coppola.

In the 34th minute, Di Vaio made no mistake again and got behind Marcelo Zalayeta's assist to fire a right-footed volley from the heart of the area into the back of the net.

Atalanta reduced the deficit three minutes later. Manfredini latched onto a corner kick and headed home from close range.

Chevanton replaced Ferreira Pinto and the Uruguay forward made an immediate impact as he levelled the score on the hour mark from the edge of the box.

In the night's other game, Genoa and Bari drew 1-1. Paulo Barretto scored his third goal in two games to give Bari an early lead, but Genoa fought back and equalized through a deflected free kick from Omar Milanello.

Genoa suffered an early setback as Sokratis Papastathopoulos was punished for a foul on the edge of the penalty area and the punishment was doubled from the resulting free-kick.

The ball took a wicked deflection into the six-yard area, where Papastathopoulos turned and attempted to clear it but an unfortunate deflection, perhaps off the arm of Barreto, sent the ball into the back of the net.

The home side increased the pressure with a succession of corners in the first three minutes of the second half.

From one set-piece, Giuseppe Sculli's flick header was almost met by David Suazo at the far post, but a Bari defender managed to lift the ball over his own crossbar.

And they were rewarded in the 52nd minute when Suazo was fouled on the edge of the penalty area and Milanetto's free-kick took a decisive to loop into the far corner.
