JUAN SEBASTIAN VERON has revealed he turned down a personal offer from Roberto Mancini to join him at Manchester City. Veron, 34, played for the Italian boss at Inter Milan and the duo were team-mates at Sampdoria and Lazio.
But the Argentina ace admits he has no interest in returning to England, where he endured disappointing spells with Manchester United and Chelsea.
Veron, who currently skippers Estudiantes in his home country, said: "I can't leave, I'd be going against my convictions.
"I'd be letting myself and the fans down above all else."
The midfielder, who donates part of his salary to Estudiantes' youth scheme, added: "It's not possible at the moment and it's not a question of money.
"My family and my affections are involved."
Veron's agent Miguel Pires said: "Juan said to me that he received a phone call from Mancini and that he had offered him Ј7million and the same to Estudiantes for a one-year contract.
"In addition, that amount would have been duplicated if he would have continued at Manchester City during 2011."
