Arsenal go top as Pompey shock Tigers and Spurs beat Stoke


Arsenal fueled the title ambitions with a victory over West Ham, while Iain Dowie started his Hull City downtime with a dramatic defeat.

Arsenal took advantage of Chelsea and Manchester United's later on Saturday to move top of the standings, after a 2-0 victory at Emirates Stadium to West Ham.

The bottom two sides battled at Fratton Park and Portsmouth came from behind to grab a 3-2 success over Hull City and pilfer Dowie's big day.

Darren Bent continued his productive campaign in front of goal by scoring twice in the first eleven minutes to send Sunderland on their way to a 3-1 victory over Steve Bruce's former club Birmingham.

Wigan left it late before diffract Burnley 1-0 at the DW Stadium in a strongly competitive relegation battle.

Everton procured a seventh successful victory at Goodison Park after beating Bolton 2-0
