El-Hadji Diouf's second-half header earned Blackburn a 1-1 draw as Chelsea's Premier League title aspirations hit the buffers at Ewood Park
Just when the Blues thought their week could not get any worse El-Hadji Diouf secured it did just that, as his towering far post header earned Rovers a 1-1 draw at Ewood Park.
Chelsea had led for much of the clash after Nicolas Anelka opened up the injury-hit hosts on the right and pulled back for Didier Drogba to slot home.
With Manchester United obtaining top spot after success over Liverpool, it was determinative for the Blues to keep breathing on the necks of their rivals and a single point on Sunday's travels means they remain third, four points away the leaders with a game in hand.
The Blues have now picked up only seven points out of a possible 15 as their hunt for silverware wobbled once again.
Sam Allardyce's side have lost at home only twice in the league this season and they at last showed some spirit as Morten Gamst Pedersen twice blazed over from outside the box.
