Juve dominate to leave Cottagers with a mountain to climb

Three goals in first half-time saw Juventus take a lead of their Europa League last-16 clash with Fulham, while Dickson Etuhu's goal gave the Cottagers hopefulness for the second leg.

Fulham lagging behind in the game for most of the first period and found themselves 2-0 down following goals from Nicola Legrottaglie and Jonathan Zebina.

A goal from Dickson Etuhu gave the Cottagers a fraction hope in the game, but Trezeguet halftime goal re-established The Old Lady two goals advantage.

Roy Hodgson's men attempted to find new crucial away goal in the second half, but the Italian team kept them away and will bring a appreciable advantage ahead of the second leg next week.

Hodgson trusted Paul Konchesky for his first start in almost two months in the spot of cup-tied Nicky Shorey as Clint Dempsey, who received a serious knee trauma in January, was an eye-opener insertion on the substitutes seat.

Alberto Zaccheroni made four improvements to the Juve side who overcome Fiorentina last weekend, out of them World Cup winners Fabio Cannavaro and Fabio Grosso.

Hodgson assumed before kick-off his team were playing one of the most important matches in the club's history and they soon looked out of their depth opposite a fluent Juve side swam with class.

The results leaves Fulham with slashing, but not irresistible task in west London next week - but the full-backs will have to make better pointedly if their European adventure is to go ahead into the quarter-finals.
