Man City secured a point after late goal against Sunderland


Super-sub Adam Johnson secured a dramatic 1-1 draw for Manchester City with a brilliant goal in added time against Sunderland.

Johnson, who refused to move to the Stadium of Light in the January transfer window, curled in a nice left-footed strike from the corner of the City area in added time to earn a priceless point for Roberto Mancinis side in UEFA Champions League chase.

A header from Kenwyne Jones in 9th minutes of the firs half put Sunderland ahead, until Johnson, who freshly joined Manchester City from Middlesbrough, netted in the 91st minute.

Black Cats took an advantage when Steed Malbranque curled a right footed cross onto the head of Jones, who gave City goalkeeper Shay Given no chance with a superb header.

Craig Bellamy, Shaun Wright Phillips and Carlos Tevez all forced good saves from Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon in the second half.

Black Cats were on the way of seconds Premier League victory for the first time since December 2008, a run of 48 games, until Johnson secured a point for City to put them within two points of 4th placed Tottenham.
