Top-flying Everton took Man.City scalp
Everton dent Manchester City's UEFA Champions League hopes after an impressive 2-0 win at Eastlands and boosted their own European striving.
A victory would have moved Man. City into the fourth spot in the table, but they were imperfect by goals by Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta.
Tim Cahill scoring with a trademark header after 33 minutes of play while Areta wrapped the game in the finals minutes with a superb team effort.
The success for Toffees did neighbours Liverpool a big favour, but also leaves David Moyes team only seven points away of the fourth Tottenham.
The hosts dominated the most of the match and the pressure on manager Roberto Mancini was obviously as effort spilled over when he and Moyes collision in added time.
The Italian took opposition to Moyes picking up a ball, seemingly interpreting the Scot's action as an attempt to waste time.
It needed fourth official Howard Webb to interpose and referee Peter Walton sent off both managers to the stand.
