Borussia Monchengladbach edged up the Bundesliga table after a 2-1 home win over struggling Nurnberg.
Roberto Colautti gave Gladbach a 27th minute lead before Nurnberg levelled two minutes after the restart through Albert Bunjaku.
Gladbach claimed all three points thanks to substitute Rob Friend's 74th minute, just a minute after entering in action.
The loss leaves Nurnberg three points from safety at the foot of the standings having played one game more than their rivals, while Gladbach are 11th, 11 points clear of danger and now with one eye on a late push for a European berth.
