
Benfica came from goal down to shock Marseille 2-1 in France and dominate 3-2 on aggregate.
The Europa League clash was obviously balanced after a 1-1 draw in the first leg tie and Marseille defended their away goals advantage until deep into the second half.
Mamadou Niang gave the home side's advance by scoring in the 70th minute, but Benfica were not ready to surrender so easy.
Maxi Pereira leveled five minutes after the opening goal and it looked like there would be extra time until Alan Kardec winner in the 90th minutes send Benfica into the last eight of the competition.
Hatem Ben Arfa was also shown a red card in the final minutes on a miserable night for Marseille.
