CSKA Moscow progress after shock defeat over Sevilla

Keisuke Honda's second period free-kick gave CSKA Moscow successfully perform and shock 2-1 victory over a favourites Sevilla to progress for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League after a 3-2 aggregate.

The two sides entered into the clash at Estadio Ramon Sanchez after 1-1 draw and it was Sevilla who were favourites to progress after the away goal in the first leg, although both teams began slowly.

But the first 45 minutes came to life when CSKA went shocking ahead, Tomas Necid dropping his shoulder to get space to slot into the bottom corner for a well taken goal from just outside the area.

The Russians hold the lead for just two minutes as the visitors surrendered their advantage in disappointing style, a long ball from the hosts backline created confusion between goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev and the defence as Diego Perotti drew the ball and scored on 41 minutes.

CSKA Moscow booked their place into the quarter-finals, for first time, 10 minutes into the second period, after Adres Palop's awful fumble helping Honda's innocuous looking 30-yard free-kick into the top corner to seal the victory for the Russians.
