Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce said his side handed Birmingham the points after a 2-1 defeat at St Andrews. The visitors were caught sleeping on 12 minutes, allowing a short corner to be played into the box for Cameron Jerome to open the scoring.
Jerome added his second three minutes into the second half as Blackburn were caught-out when the home side threatened to run riot.
Ryan Nelsen pulled a goal back for Rovers but they could not snatch a point despite a late fight-back.
Allardyce felt his side had "gifted" Alex McLeish's men their fifth successive win, and was left disappointed with the way they defended.
"We expected Birmingham to come out all guns blazing and put us under the cosh," he said.
"We controlled the first 10 minutes but then give them a first corner and decided to give them a goal.
"With the form and confidence that they are in at the moment, it was always going to be difficult to come back from that. But to gift them another one really killed us.
"Apart from those errors it is a toss of the coin as to who was the better side but Birmingham were the ones who took advantage of their opportunities."
