The Bulgarian International show a strong performance in the 1-0 success at Wolves on Saturday in the lack of the missed Wayne Rooney. The England striker was missed out by a knee injury and with Michael Owen out for the rest of the season with a crocked hamstring, Berbatov stepped up to the mark in style.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was not initially convinced about Rooney's chances of playing against Italian giant at Old Trafford on Wednesday, but it emerged yesterday he could be available for the clash.
Manchester United reached a 3-2 win in first leg against the Italians thanks to a Rooney double header at the San Siro.
Berbatov was a substitute in Italy and was not used in play but now he fire Manchester United to Euro glory.
The Ј30m forward was the only option for Sir Alex Ferguson at Molineux and responded with a good performance. Berba team-mate Rio Ferdinand, who returned from a back injury, praised the Bulgarian.
Ferdinand said: "I wasn't surprised at Berba's hard work. To be honest if you take a look at the statis you'll notice that he's one of the hardest runners in our team and that he covers the most ground.
"People see another side to him but I don't think that it actually reflects his importance to the team. He's appreciated by us and that's the most important thing.
"I thought he was superb against Wolves. For one player to play up front on his own and occupy their back four the way he did was testament to his quality."
Rio is hoping there is no complications with his back injury and is looking forward to facing Milan.
He added: "It's the Champions League and a great occasion and hopefully we can finish the tie off."
