Birmingham earned revenge for their FA Cup exit and defeat bottom standing Portsmouth in the Premier League clash at Fratton Park.
Pompey won against Blues with 2-0 on Saturday to progress in FA Cup semi-finals, thanks to a double from Frederic Piquionne, but on Tuesday night Jerome scored double for success.
The guests went ahead in the 16th minute when Christian Benitez put through Jerome, who made no mistake as he slotted past the exposed James with a low strike into the outlying corner.
And, as Portsmouth directed to recover equality before the half-time, their rivals scored a second of the game on 42 minutes, back through Jerome, as he sent following a cheeky back-heeled assist from his strike partner Benitez.
Substitute Nwankwo Kanu scored a late goal back for Pompey, but it proved nothing more than a consolation as Birmingham jumped to eighth place in the standing while Portsmouth stay five points behind second-bottom Burnley, having played a game more, with a nine-point penalty upcoming on the horizon.
